In order to fix and hang the contact wire (CW) with the necessary mechanical tension, droppers are installed on the line holding the contact wire to the messenger wire. Connections assure uniform voltage state in the catenary. For this reason, this kind of clamps must pass strict fatigue and electrical tests.
